The Divinity of Sweet Tea
Is a portrait without face
still a portrait?
Is a selfie without self
still relevant?
What began as an effort to reflect a photo of my beautiful love ended as an abstract recognition of her. I fell in love with a woman whose loveliness has evolved throughout the years, whose face and figure have shifted in the sands of time.
To commit to the adoration and replication of one image is a slight to them all.
The divinity of my lady (affectionately called "Sweet Tea" for her love of the drink) lies in her ability to exude grace at any age, and without digital technology that experience cannot be replicated. Rather than trace the lines of an exquisite lady in one frame and at one stage, this image reflects a ubiquitous divinity that she holds across all.
This is a picture that will never be fully defined, as is the case with true love.
